The Interpreter

The Interpreter Movie Poster

The Interpreter is a classic action thriller and was a fantastic way to start a new year at Film Club. It features UN translator Silvia Broome (Nicole Kidman) becoming  inadvertently involved with an elaborate assassination plot of a guest speaker at the UN. However, the film features much more than meets the eye, with the story delving into Broome’s  complex and turbulent background and the way this interacts with her equally troubled protector, secret service operative Tobin Keller (Sean Penn).

Perhaps this film will struggle to change your outlook on life, but with an entertaining story line and a pleasant moral message it is well worth a watch. (Even if they don’t kiss at the end – sorry guys!)

Welcome

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to the new school year at Hockerill.

Hockerill film club’s first session this year will meet on Wednesday 9th September, slightly before or at 4 pm in E2. We hope to welcome back many of those who attended last year, as well as many new members.

For any new members, we suggest having a look at the “about” page of the blog, which provides a summary of the club and explains how you can claim creativity CAS hours for this activity. The choice of films this week are: Slumdog Millionaire, The Interpreter and The Pianist. Please vote for the film you would most like to watch on the “Vote for our next film” page.

Again for the benefit of any new members, the club usually takes place in the new E2, however because of others using the English rooms after school, we do occasionally move to E1 or B1. This should not be a problem this Wednesday, however if ever we are not in the normal room and you have not received a form notice stating otherwise, this is where to look.

We are quite a relaxed club, so please feel free to being any snacks or drinks along to enjoy during the film. This is of course if you agree to give a reasonable share to Mr Watson and the students running this blog, William and Robert;)

We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday!
